I’ve mentioned this newsletter before, but The Profitable Freelancer has sent out another great article on the real reason you need more freelance work.
“The benefits of having steady business go far beyond the ability to
pay your bills. There’s a huge psychological effect at work — one that
you need to be aware of if you want to achieve long-term success as
a freelance professional.”
He mentions three ways you can avoid disaster and create a cycle of good, positive outcomes.
1. Market yourself. Even when you don’t need it. If anything, it will put you in a position where you can choose which work and clients work best for you. That can have a very positive effect.
2. Watch you language. Be careful what you tell yourself when times get bad.
3. Find a “quick win”. Sometimes you need to get a quick easy job to get you back into things. Sometimes a quick win can turn into something bigger and lead to more clients.
“Why go after a quick win? Quick wins provide the fuel you need to get
back on the superhighway of success — and the protection you need to
avert negative downward spirals.”
