It seems to be getting harder to post on a regular basis. That is something I’m hoping to change. When it gets busy, blogging is the first thing off the list, and once I’ve been away from blogging for awhile, it’s hard to get going again.

There has been a lot going on with my day job as well as freelance projects. One year ago I took a job with 3point5.com, now Swarmbuilder, and it has been going well. I’ve had the chance to work with a lot of great brands and create online trainings. Some of the brands I’ve worked with are The North Face, Brooks Running, Skullcandy and Timbuk2. It has been great working on these projects because it gives me the chance to create a good user experience. All of these sites are created using Flash, html/css, and jsp. Recent Work: Rocky Mountain Family Chiropratic

I’m a little late on posting this, but one of the most recent projects I got to work on was for Dr. Green of Rocky Mountain Family Chiropractic. I was contacted to help with establishing a look and feel for what his company would be. We started with the logo that was to incorporate the Rocky Mountains and have a professional feel to it. Although, different colors were shown, we ended up using green to play off the last name.

The website was built to give the company an online presence and give Dr. Green the ability to connect with his patients through a blog and other social media. It is also a place he can refer potential clients for information about his services and allow them to access the forms they need to fill out. The site was built on the WordPress platform so it can easily be changed and information added to it.

I’ve had the great opportunity to work with Bridget Cook for the last couple of years on multiple projects. A few of those projects have been websites for the books Skinhead Confessions and Shattered Silence, which is being featured on Oprah today. In preparation for that, Bridget has decided to do a self-promotion website. I had the opportunity to design and code this site and even though it was done pretty quick, I think the results are very nice and a good start for her to showing the world what she can do.

Shattered Silence is a book written by Melissa Moore and Bridget Cook. It is a story about the daughter of a serial killer.

The big focus on this site was to feature the book and allow them to purchase it as easy as possible. Also, to give the visitor enough information about the book to want to learn more.

It was developed using WordPress so the client could easily manage the content on the pages as well as add in articles about the book.

Melissa Moore and her book will be featured on Oprah September 17, 2009.

Recent Work: Talking Pictures

The Talking Pictures website was redesigned to allow for more infomation to be displayed in an organized way. Tony Toscano and Rich Bonaduce are both well know in the enterainment world but the website wasn’t up to par and not getting the traffic it deserves.

This new design allows for more reviews to be easily seen as well as the video interviews. The traffic to the site is steadily climbing and there are great advertising opportunities on the website. Go to talkingpictures.tv and check it out.

This website was designed and coded by my studio, 325studio, and was built on the WordPress platform.

Texture & Grunge Inspiration

There is a lot buzz going around about the best grunge styled websites and websites that use texture. While I’ve seen all of this, I thought, “I have been collecting screenshots of these for awhile, I should post some”. I usually spend a few minutes each day looking at some of the newest websites that come out to see what trends are going on and get some ideas for inspiration for future use. I use Evernote to collect and organize all of these screenshots which then syncs all of my computers with the same info, as well as my iPhone. It’s a great tool.

Design trends for 2009

Is it too early to be predicting design trends for 2009? I think these are more of what we are seeing at the end of 2008 and will continue through 2009, but things change really quick, so I would say these are trends for 2009. Well, Smashing Magazine has a list of what to expect this coming year for website design. Some of them include; letterpress, rich user interfaces, PNG transparency, Big Typography, and font replacement.

There seems to be a lot more political websites popping up and it is nice to see them paying attention to good design.
