I don’t know why I wasn’t follow them before but now I do and I look forward to their post, ZURB and their blog, ZURBlog. They have a lot of great applications but also write about great topics. There most recent one is on sketching with a purpose. It is a quick read and brings up some great points.

The reason sketches are so awesome are because they are quick and disposable.
Knowing your audience ensures that the purpose of your sketch is heard.
The ultimate purpose behind any sketch is to visually convey an idea to an audience.

12 Reasons to Use Twitter

As of lately, I have been really into Twitter. It was an internal struggle deciding between Facebook and Twitter as to how much time to invest in each. I realize they have different purposes but there is a lot of overlapping. I started down the Facebook path but I always struggle with the “Friend” concept. Because of that, I’ve turned to Twitter. Now, my opinion might change in a few months, but for now, it’s Twitter. I recently came across a blog post on 12 Reasons to Start Twittering by Michael Hyatt. Here is a list of the 12 reasons.

1. It will enable you to experience social networking first-hand.
2. It will make you a better writer.
3. It will help you stay connected to people you care about.
4. It will help you see a new side of your friends.
5. It will introduce you to new friends.
6. It is faster than text-messaging.
7. It will make you think about your life.
8. It will help you keep up with what people are talking about.
9. It can create traffic for your blog or Website.
10. It requires a very small investment.
11. It can help build your personal “brand.”
12. It is fun! Twitter is just plain entertaining.

Now, some of his reasons are the reasons I turned to Twitter and have put Facebook on hold. Specificaly, numbers 1, 3, and 5. I’m not opposed to getting to know more people but it gets a little overwhelming at times. Using a Twitter program, like TweetDeck, you can seperate the people you are following into groups so you only see the updates that you care about.

Ignite Salt Lake

“Enlighten us, but make it quick” is the slogan of Ignite — a community event celebrating the passion and creativity of geek culture, sponsored by O’Reilly Media. Ignite events showcase a series of speakers who, in rapid succession, give five-minute talks on whatever ignites their passion.

The format is half the fun with Ignite — speakers are allowed 20 slides that auto-forward every 15 seconds, whether they’re ready or not. Organized by volunteers in the local community and presented free of charge to their communities, Ignite talks range from “Facebook Development in 5 minutes ” to “Sequential Art” to “Zombie Defense for n00bs”.

Rockstar WordPress Designer Review

I am a WordPress fanatic and everything I’ve learned about WordPress has been from getting in there and playing with it. If I’ve ever wondered how to do something, I would look it up online and see what others have done. So, when I saw this book, Rockstar WordPress Designer, I was a little skeptical of purchasing it because I thought it would be a waste of money. What did this offer that I couldn’t find in some forum or online?
Well, I’m glad I did because it really helped me see the process of implementing WordPress on a site in a more practical manner. It helped me understand items that I have overlooked and thought I didn’t need to understand. It takes the hands on approach of teaching you, which I like. With the purchase of the book, you also get sample files and the themes that they cover.
I consider myself to be advanced with WordPress but I still found a lot of value in this book. Plus, It gives you some great tips on how you could use WP in different ways, such as a membership site, membership directory, e-commerce, and more.
If you are new to WP, this book is a must. If you have experience with WP, this book is also a must.
