For sometime now I’ve been using Firefox for some of my browser needs and Chrome for others. I’ve never been able to fully convert over to Chrome because it never seemed completely polished for the Mac. I’ve tried many times but always went back to Firefox for the heavy lifting. Well, today Firefox 4 officially released, although I’ve been using it for the past couple of weeks, and I am now completely exclusive to Firefox once again. It is actually refreshing. I don’t know how long that will last, and that is the great thing, it doesn’t have to. There is always a choice.

Golden Voice ‘Thankful to Be Here’

First of all, I think this is an awesome story. It’s nice to see someone get a second chance at life. I’m sure there are already plans for a movie underway.

Second, I just have a few thoughts on this story.

One thing that impresses me about this guy is his gratitude. The way he response to the hosts and those he talks with, it shows this man must have been taught well in his youth. One thing that he mentioned that got me thinking was his take on homeless people. Basically, you can’t judge a book by its cover. As I walk the streets of Downtown Salt Lake, I see the same panhandlers over and over again. I admit that I question what they are going to do with the money, are they really trying to just to live day to day or is it being used for their addiction. I guess that could be one in the same. Who knows, but maybe my outlook needs to change a bit.

Anther item from the story that got me thinking is that this man was given a second chance because someone else was willing to get involved and help. I am a religious man and believe that the Lord works through other people. We can’t go through life and make it without the help of others. Who knows what would have happened to this man if the reporter never did that story, he would probably still be panhandling on the streets.

The last item that I thought of, which pertains more to business and marketing yourself, is finding that one thing that you can do well and run with it. This man had the golden radio voice and he used it to his advantage. Even among the panhandlers, this set him apart. I do believe that we need help from others, but that doesn’t mean you can sit back and wait for someone to help you, you need to take what you’ve been given and use it.

Abandoned Rail Line Gets New Life As NYC Park

A different kind of park opens Tuesday in New York City. The High Line is on top of an old elevated railroad trestle that runs up the West Side of Manhattan. When complete, the park will occupy the 1.5 miles that the rail line used.

Thirty feet above the old Meatpacking District, it’s a different world from the street below. On the narrow iron structure, there is now a park promenade that winds its way through wildflowers and remnants of the old railroad tracks.

New Job

It has been awhile since I have posted and that is because I got a new full-time job. Because of that my routine has been thrown off and everything had to be put on hold. I’m now starting to figure things out again and getting back into my routine so hopefully the posts will be more frequent.
As for my job, I’m now working as a Senior Graphic Designer at 3point5.com. It’s a great company that has a fun working environment. It was a great opportunity and a chance to broaden my knowledge and expertise as a graphic/web designer. The company provides training portals for sporting and outdoor companies so as a designer, I get to design these website that are based on Flash, html, and css.
Along with getting a new job, I put my house up for sale and it sold in under a week. Now I get to deal with the stress of finding a new house.
